HELIUM 4 built the Muse app as a free application. This service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page informs you about our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use Muse.

    The short version: Muse processes everything on your device. Your AI conversations never leave your phone. We don't collect, store, or have access to your chat history, voice inputs, or personal data.
  

On-Device Processing

Muse is an AI-powered application that runs large language models entirely on your Android device. This is a deliberate architectural choice:

All AI inference happens locally on your phone's processor.
No conversation data is transmitted to any server.
Voice mode (speech recognition and text-to-speech) operates fully offline.
Chat history is stored in an encrypted local database.
No account or sign-in is required to use the App.

Information Collection and Use

Muse itself does not collect personally identifiable information. Any data you provide (name, bio) during optional profile setup is stored only on your device.

However, the App uses third-party services for non-conversational functions. These services may collect limited information:

Google Play Services — app distribution and updates
Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage statistics (screen views, session length)
Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports to help us fix bugs
Firebase Remote Config — delivers the AI model list to the App

Important: None of these services have access to your AI conversations, voice inputs, or chat history. They only see anonymized app usage data (e.g., "a user opened the settings screen").

Log Data

In the event of an error, we may collect log data through Firebase Crashlytics. This may include your device's IP address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, timestamps, and other diagnostic statistics. This data helps us identify and fix bugs.

Cookies

Muse does not use cookies. Third-party services integrated into the App may use their own cookies or identifiers for analytics purposes. You can manage these through your device's settings.

Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device:

Chat history — stored in an encrypted Room database on the device.
AI models — stored as files in the app's private storage directory.
Settings — stored in SharedPreferences on the device.
Voice models — stored as assets within the app.

If you uninstall Muse, all of this data is permanently deleted by the Android operating system. We have no backups, no server copies, and no way to recover your data.

Data Export & Deletion

You can export your conversations as JSON from within the App at any time. You can also delete individual chats, all chats, or clear all data from the Settings screen. Deleted data cannot be recovered.

Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Chat data is stored in an encrypted local database. The App does not expose any network services or APIs. Since conversations never leave your device, there is no risk of server-side data breaches affecting your AI interactions.

Children's Privacy

Muse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
